The Round Table of Winchester Castle
King Arthur's Round Table at Winchester Castle
Winchester (Venta Belgarum), Hampshire, England
"The Rounde Table at Wynchestere beganne, and ther it ende, and ther it hangeth yet" - John Hardyng, Chronicle of England (1463)
The round table at Winchester is believed to have been created during the time of King Edward I, for a tournament to celebrate the betrothal of one of his daughters.
The table was first described in 1155 by Wace, who relied on previous depictions of Arthur's fabulous retinue. The symbolism of the Round Table developed over time; by the close of the 12th century it had come to represent the chivalric order associated with Arthur's court, the Knights of the Round Table.
The Round Table is King Arthur's famed table in the Arthurian legend, around which he and his knights congregate.
As its name suggests, it has no head, implying that everyone who sits there has equal status.

The Vegvisir, also known as the runic compass or the Viking compass/Nordic compass made of eight Viking runic sticks, is a symbol of protection and guidance believed to be used as a compass by the Vikings. The word vegvisir means 'wayfinder' and 'signpost' in the Icelandic language. Although it is commonly known as the Viking Compass and associated by some people with the journeys Vikings made around the world during the Viking Age, there is quite a bit of debate about the origins of the Vegvisir.
There are two sources that mention the Vegvisir: the Huld manuscript compiled by Geir Vigfusson in 1880 and The Galdrabok, another manuscript that is essentially a grimoire - 'a textbook for magic'.
It is believed that the eight Viking runic rods that make up the Vegvisir can represent the cardinal (North, South, West, East) and intercardinal directions (Northwest, Northeast, Southwest, Southeast).
Some people believe that a nail placed exactly in the center of the Vegvisir would provide clues (by the position of the shadow at certain times of the day) and help the Vikings navigate the seas. As an aside, some legends mention that the Vegvisir/Scandinavian compass would be drawn on Viking ships to help them find their way back and get home safely. Today, the Vegvisir is used as a symbol of Icelandic culture, while people of the Asatru faith also use it to identify themselves and as a symbol of spiritual guidance.
As an oracle board, it is divided into 9 parts or 9 worlds, starting from the north, clockwise. Asgard, Nifheim, Svartalheim, Muspelheim, Hellheim, Jotunheim, Vanaheim, Alfheim and in the middle Midguard and are used when throwing or throwing runes.
It is recommended to align your board with the cardinal directions, with Nauthiz (ᚾ) to the north, the Inquirer and Ehwaz (ᛖ) to the south, the Oracle.
A compass can be useful.
